Are You A Ramadan Muslim?

Every year Ramadan graces us with a warm embrace, a compassionate smile and the ability to turn a non practising Muslim into a patient, humble and charitable man whom practises his religion undoubtedly.

The term, "Ramadan Muslim", is thrown around so casually each year and hinders ones progress and path towards Islam. As a Muslim myself, and one who observes hijab, I'm sure I speak for many when I say that I am not the best practising Muslim myself, but as I wear a hijab and "look" more Muslim than a non wearing hijab sister or a brother who doesn't have a beard, he or she is slated for perhaps dressing more modestly during Ramadan?

Ramadan is not just for abstaining from food. It's so much more than that. It's for all Muslims to be able to strengthen our faith during this holy month, suppress our desires and egos, control our limbs, withstand from backbiting or gossiping and instead focusing our attention towards performing charitable deeds, helping those less fortunate than us and trying to maintain it after Ramadan.

Ramadan isn't just for those who the most devout Muslims or for those who haven't prayed a single prayer this year. It's for all of us, we should actually be encouraging the sister if she wishes to adorn an abaya etc. If anything, it's true belief when somebody picks that Quran up off that dusty shelf to read during Ramadan as they're aware that this month is a month better than a thousand months! And if they choose to follow this after Ramadan then it's a job well done and if not, then pray for your brother or sister in Islam.

I am actually very excited for Ramadan and in much need of a spiritual cleanse! Would you like to see a #RamadanDiaries2018?
